Really Fun Piano Games & Activities
We learn so much better, and retain information better too, when we are actively involved in our learning. Using the body, looking at things from a different angle, applying our knowledge…all of these things help us to learn and remember!
That’s why I love using games and activities in my lessons. Not only does it add a huge element of fun, the students get invested into the concepts as they play together. Being intentional in the games and activities we use is key to making sure this is productive time — not filler time.
This page is full of good, fun, and free music theory games that are pretty painless to throw together. They are also very purposeful in helping to solidify concepts, gives a fun element of repetition to theory so it can be remembered, and helps the students to apply their musical knowledge in meaningful ways.
Use this to help teach piano students in individual lessons, or as a group lesson, or in a music classroom. Use these to teach, apply, or review. These games are pretty much adaptable to whatever your needs are!
***Continue to check back for updates! I am always trying new games and activities out on my students and if we think it’s a game or activity worth keeping, we’ll add it to this page.
