Your choice of music makes such a big difference in your studio!  Its true that you can throw any type of music in front of some students and they will just play, no problem.  But that is NOT the case with most students!  I have spent hours and hours and hours and hours trying to find good music.  Music that my students will enjoy, will stretch them, will give them a variety of styles, and will keep them motivated.  It has been so tricky finding good music!  Maybe I just have really picky students, or maybe I just spoil them too much….but either way I am so excited to share with you some of my absolute favorite music.  I feel like this is gold!  You will love what I have found.  I have a music “library” in which I allow my students to borrow from.  Usually, after getting this music, though, they want their own copy.  It’s that good.  Oh how I wish I would have had someone give me these secrets and saved me these hours of research in finding good music.  I hands down feel positive your students will love what I have found.

Method Books: Piano Pronto

I used to use the standard Alfred, Fabio, and all the rest.  Don’t get me wrong, they had their positive points.  But they were so boring/  I was so excited to get this recommendation from a fellow piano teacher.  I have not regretted for an instant the change over!  I have loved how fun, versatile, and motivating these books are.  My students don’t think twice about going through these books….at least not until they are older and just a little bit wiser.  🙂  These are the “meat” of my books and I use these every week.

Since I have no reason to not be completely honest with you, I will tell you this.  My students start to lose interest as they start getting into Movement 4 of these books.  At this point, they are advanced enough that I start supplementing with other songs and begin to tailor lessons to them more individually and picking out pieces of music on my own.  Much more work on the teacher’s part, but worth it for your students.  That’s why I recommend only the first 4 movements.

Recital/Fun Music

This is the music that I use to bring out the fun for the students.  If I need a motivator song, I pull it out of one of these books.  I just LOVE these books!
