Let’s do some Blues Improv!
Now that you know a little bit about sharps and flats, you can begin to use them to create some really cool songs. In fact, in Piano Marvel, we can use flats and sharps to create a really cool blues improv. I can’t wait for you to try it out! It will be different than anything you have tried before, but be patient with yourself. It may take some practice!
First off, you need to know some terms. The first thing you will do is learn a 3 note riff. A riff is a pattern. It can be repeated, and/or be used in variations. In blues, they use riffs to create a cool song. We will have you learn a few riffs, then you can use that and any variation of it to do some improv.
Improv is where you just make it up as you go. Improv can be done in theater, and in music! Improv is short for improvisation. It is SO fun to improv! You can sound so cool and you can just tell people you are making it up as you go. They will be so impressed.
- Go to the Piano Marvel Library.
